Clarify the teaching context

State the subjects, learner level, and setting that best describe your experience. A reader should not have to infer whether you taught independently, assisted another teacher, completed a placement, or offered tutoring. Use your actual title and explain the scope of the role clearly.

The sample excerpt below is fictional. It demonstrates ways to describe classroom work without claiming unsupported improvements in grades or examination results. Replace each activity with something you have done and keep learner information private. Your examples can be concrete without naming individual students or sharing their records.

Describe preparation, delivery, and follow-through

Useful evidence may include preparing lessons, adjusting materials, giving feedback, organizing classroom routines, or collaborating with colleagues. Explain the purpose of the work. “Prepared short comprehension activities to identify topics for revision” says more than “responsible for teaching.”

List qualifications and registrations accurately, with their current status where relevant. Requirements vary by role and location, so follow the vacancy instructions and verify any requirement with the employer or appropriate authority. Do not describe an in-progress qualification as complete or imply that a course gives credentials it does not award.

  • Use accurate subject and learner-level descriptions.
  • Show how you prepared, assessed, or adapted learning activities.
  • Include school responsibilities that are relevant to the new role.

Choose examples with a clear teaching purpose

Tailor the resume around the setting you want to join. If the vacancy emphasizes collaboration, describe shared planning or coordinated feedback. If it focuses on a subject, show relevant lesson or curriculum work. Avoid filling the skills section with broad statements that your experience never illustrates.
